MARCH
1st 2004 - Stiffs 'Guitar Anthems' album appearance. Yes,
it`s hard to believe it, but The Stiffs have a track featured on the new
EMI Gold compilation album, 'Guitar Anthems', released March
1st 2004, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Saxon, Black
Sabbath, Deep Purple and more. More
compilation album belated news..... Here`s
one that passed us by....an overseas album entitled 'Essential
Punk Rock', on BMG Special Products features the 1999
live version of The Stiffs` 'Tomorrow`s still alive'. This album was
released in September 2002, though we`ve only just discovered it,
hence the inclusion here. More
details and artwork for both the above albums have been added
to our 'Stiffs on CD' section.
FEBRUARY
25 2004 - 'Classic Rock' features Stiffs photo. The
Stiffs have a previously unseen 1980 publicity shot taking up half a
page of the March issue of 'Classic Rock' magazine. Unfortunately
however, it`s in an article about SLF,and the photo comes
complete with caption 'SLF circa 1979' !! Yes,
it would seem the editors have mistaken The Stiffs for Stiff
Little Fingers, despite stressing in the editorial... "S.L.F.,
not to be confused with The Stiffs, Little and Large or Badfinger".
Nice
one guys !! What about an article on The Stiffs next month, with
a photo of 'Little and Large' maybe?
FEBRUARY
18 2004 - Phil Hendriks guests on Automatics track. Phil
was in Fourth Street studios, Santa Monica, playing guest guitar and

early March on the Adelphia Cable TV channel in California. JANUARY
20th 2004 - Phil records with Alan Merrill of 'The Arrows' fame. Phil
Hendriks has been in Stone Room studio, London, co-producing some
new recordings by Glam-rock legend Alan Merrill, with engineer/co-producer
Chris Johnson. Alan
was lead vocalist and bass player with 70`s heart-throbs The Arrows,
and writer of the Rock classic 'I love Rock`n`roll' ). L to R: Alan Merrill, Phil Hendriks 2003
DECEMBER 2003 - XMAS TRACKS - 2003 Phil
Hendriks and Jimmy D. have both contributed solo performances to
Orlando/USA based record label 'Gulcher Records' Christmas album
"Xmas Snertz". Phil`s
track is a 100mph version of the 1966 Elvis hit "If Every day was like
Christmas", penned
by Presley`s bodyguard Red West, whilst Jimmy D. has provided his
own "Coming Home for Christmas" under his 'Monsterpop' alias. The
guys will line up on the album alongside: Angel
Corpus Christi, The Automatics, Mach Bell, Crawlspace, Kenne
Highland & His Vatican Sex Kittens, Phil Hundley, The
Korps, MX-80, Ted Niemiec, Pansy Division, Stalingrad Symphony, Rich
Stim, Walking Ruins, X-Ray Tango OCTOBER
2003 - PICKWICK COMPILATION APPEARANCE The
newly re-mastered version of The Stiffs "Goodbye My Love" is included
on the 'Blitz Records'/Pickwick compilation of Stiff Records rarities, "Raiding
the Vaults ( Stiff Rarities and Oddities - VOLUME
2 )". Despite the low retail
price of £6.99, this is the only available CD to feature the Stiffs
track from a genuine
'master', rather than the usual vinyl source..... which
gives Stiffs HQ something to smile about! AUGUST

March 2003:
One of Phil Hendriks` 3 performances
has been removed
from new copies of the Graham Oliver album 'End of an Era'. It
seems that the benefactors of Jimi Hendrix`s estate objected to the
use of Jimi`s lyrics on the track 'Sippin` Wine', and demanded that
all copies of the album containing the offending track be withdrawn
from sale immediately. New pressings of the album contain
a different track altogether. 2002 3 NEW JAPANESE

2000:
Paul Adshead,former engineer at Pennine
sound studios, discovers an old tape reel in his attic. The tape has a piece
of sticky tape stuck to it, bearing the word "STIFFS". After
careful handling he discovers that the tape is the original master of the
bands first ever demo recording, made in July 1978. The band never
paid for the tape in 1978, as they hadn`t enough money with them, taking
only a cassette copy , which has long since deteriorated beyond repair. The
tape features the very first unreleased takes of "Inside Out" and "Volume
Control" in pristine quality. LIVE
