RELEASED FEBRUARY 1981
THE STIFFS version of "Goodbye my love" originally
a UK Top 10
hit for the GLITTERBAND in 1975 was recorded
at London`s Battery
studios in January 1981 and released the following
month by STIFF records.
The flipside was "Magic Roundabout" - a demo.
recorded a few months earlier.
It was not until the single failed to chart
that the band found out they would
have no future at STIFF records unless the
single charted.
The single did , however become a hit in the
UK National Airplay charts,
which undoubtedly afforded songwriter Gerry
Shephard a few nights on the town.
There were several label variations issued
, including overseas issues.
We are still collecting information about
overseas releases but here are the
ones of which we are aware!

The Australian release - K-8259
This version has
long been rumoured to exist although it has taken
20 years to actually
find a bonafide copy.
We heard in 1981
that Festival records had released the record in
Australia .Close
inspection of the label reveals the tiny lettering,
Made in Australia
by Festival records.........
Unfortunately,it
would seem that the Aus. sleeve is just a plain old
Stiff records
company bag.
Many
thanks to Marshal Peters for the photo. and see our links
